I don't think I've ever had so many positive and nice reactions to an Instagram photo as I did to this one! I wanted to make something fun and easy for Christmas and I think I succeeded. This bread and pesto poinsettia is a real hit. It looks fantastic and it tastes absolutely divine! And the best part is, as always, it is very easy to make, good luck!

Portions8 persons

Supplies

  • Baking paper

  • Pizzames

  • Ruler

  • Glas

  • Mixing bowl

  • Dishcloth

Ingredients

  • 1 pak Koopmans bread mix white
  • 1 little pot pesto
  • 275 milliliters water
  • 20 gram soft butter

Instructions

  • Put the mix in a bowl with the butter and water and knead into a nice and firm batter. Then divide the dough into three equal pieces and let it rest for 10 minutes under a tea towel.

  • When this is done, we roll out the balls nicely into three 'pizza shapes', which is how large the slices should be. Take a sheet of baking paper and place the first slice on it and brush it with pesto. Please note: make sure the pesto drains well.

  • Now take a ruler of 30 centimeters and calculate what the center is. Press a circle around the center with a glass, so you have a guideline where you are not allowed to cut. Now carefully press stripes on the dough with the ruler, because you have to make 12 equal pieces but do not cut them, the middle must remain stuck! The easiest way to cut it is with a pizza knife.

  • Take the two flaps that are next to each other and turn them inwards twice. Now stick both ends together and make sure it has a point, so you get the star effect. And because you didn't cut the inside, you can also see a beautiful star forming here. Now cover the star again with a tea towel and let it rest for 45 minutes. A few minutes before time we preheat the oven to 200 degrees.

  • Bake the poinsettia in the oven for 25 minutes, keep a close eye on it when it is nicely browned. For us, 25 minutes was just enough, he shouldn't have been in it longer. Because our flaps had become so greasy due to the grease, they unfortunately did not stick together, but this still looks fantastic!

Now place the next slice on top and cover it with a nice layer of pesto, then place the last slice on top again.

Now carefully press stripes on the dough with the ruler, because you have to make 12 equal pieces in a moment, but do not cut them through, the middle must remain stuck! Now we are going to fold the star. Take the two flaps that are next to each other and turn them inwards twice. Now stick both ends together and make sure it has a point, so you get the star effect. Delicious fresh bread with pesto and pine nuts, it is best served warm. But it is also good to eat cold!

Would you like to eat it warm again? Then put it in the oven for 5 minutes at 200 degrees, then it will be nice and crispy and warm again!

It's like a piece of bread, you just remove the tufts, and in the end you only have the star left!
